Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed a Victory Day parade in Moscow’s Crimson Sq., saying that his forces in jap Ukraine are “defending the motherland”.
He informed crowds that the invasion of Ukraine – what he referred to as a “particular army operation” – was mandatory and had been provoked by the West.
However Mr Putin didn’t make any main announcement referring to the battle, together with declaring victory or a full-scale mobilisation.
The annual Victory Day is without doubt one of the most necessary holidays within the Russian calendar and commemorates the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.
